Bio-Individuality is the KEY to your body’s ability to THRIVE

You are unique, and what you put into your body should be, too — just because a food is healthy, doesn’t mean it’s healthy for you.

Food sensitivities and gut-based issues are more common today than ever before. Symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, hormone imbalances, skin problems and digestive issues are all common signs that your body is unable to operate at its most optimum level.

Food sensitivities are often subtle and can take up to 72 hours to manifest in the body, making them hard to pinpoint and easy to dismiss.

By understanding your body’s own bio-individuality you can begin to notice your body’s subtle symptoms and create a lifestyle around food that has the ability to enhance your energy and optimize your performance.

The 3 Healthy Foods That Could Cause More Harm Than Benefit

As our food industry has changed, so has the quality. Food isn’t made quite like it used to be. This means some of the foods that used to be America’s staples have now become America’s pitfall.

There are three staples in the American diet we’ve relied on for centuries. Unfortunately, due to the processing of these foods, they don’t have quite the same nutritional benefits as they used to and, in fact, for many they are causing more harm than they are good.

According to data reports from multiple food sensitivity tests there are 3 foods that show up more frequently than others, ranking them the top foods that increase inflammation.

Now about those three healthy food items you’ve been wondering about…

There are three staples in the American diet that we have been relying on for centuries and unfortunately today due to the processing these foods aren’t what they used to and according to data given from multiple food sensitivity tests, are turning out to cause more harm than they are good, especially for those who are dealing with inflammation and gut based issues.

What are these three foods?Top 3 Common Food Sensitivities by Amanda Biccum

Gluten

Dairy

Eggs

You heard it right and yes, it pains me to say it.

According to data collected from multiple food sensitivity tests, gluten, dairy and eggs are the top three most common foods to show up for people when they take a IgG food sensitivity test. That means, that although these foods contain high amounts of B vitamins, protein and healthy fats, for a majority of people, these foods are causing more harm than they are good.

How do you discover if you have sensitivity?

At the end of the day, the signs can be so subtle and accumulate so insidiously over time that it becomes hard to pinpoint exactly what is triggering the reaction. Yet getting to the root of your body’s symptoms is important as these sensitivities can add up and create long–term damage over time.

Food sensitivities can create subtle stresses in the body, and once you’ve reached what is called your “total load,” your minor issues turn into major issues and you’re off to the doctor. You return home with a bottle of prescription meds, but still no answer to what put you there in the first place.

Getting to the root of these symptoms BEFORE the doctor gets involved is where the preventative, holistic approach comes into play.

The easiest and cheapest way to see if you have a sensitivity to these foods is to eliminate them from your diet for a period of 3-6 weeks and then re-introduce them one a week over time, noticing if you have any mild symptoms that creep up.

The best and most accurate way is to run a IgG food sensitivity test. This is a simple, at home test that can be ordered through your healthcare practitioner and it tests for 94 different food sensitivities from healthy foods.

Inflammation BLOG by Holistic Nutritionist Amanda BiccumIf you are dealing with any sort of inflammation based issue; autoimmune disease (hashimotos, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis), gut problems (bloating, gas, constipation, IBS, leaky gut, candida, gastritis), skin issues (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne) and even mental emotional conditions like anxiety, ADD and ADHD It’s best to cut these foods out completely for 90 days. Notice if your symptoms begin to relieve. After the 90 day period, you can slowly introduce one of these foods in at a time back into your diet taking care to notice any adverse effects.

There is no doubt about the health benefits that these delicious staples once provided in our diets. However, with modern day practices such as genetic modification, toxic chemicals form pesticides and herbicides on to of modern farming practices like mono-cropping depleting our soil of nutrients, the integrity of our food supply has suffered drastically.

Understanding your body’s own bio-individuality is key to optimizing your health and vitality. If you’ve felt as though you are doing everything you can yet aren’t getting the results you wish, taking a deeper look at how these three food items are affecting your body might just be the missing link!

Bio-individuality

As with everything when it comes to health, it all boils down to bio-individuality. What serves your body today, may be different than what served your body some time ago and most likely your body’s needs will differ from your neighbor.

A persons bio-individuality depends on a number of factors, such as age, lifestyle, stress, environment, and genetics.

Through understanding your own unique bio-individuality, you become better able to serve your body in a way that allows you to thrive, instead of just survive.

What measures can I take to know if I am sensitive to these foods?

One of the best way to begin to better understand your bio-individuality and whether or not you are sensitive to these foods is to run an IgG food sensitivity test. This is a simple at home test that can be ordered through your healthcare practitioner. This test looks at 94 different healthy foods and will assess your sensitivity level from mild, moderate to high.

If you are dealing with any sort of inflammation based issue; autoimmune disease (hashimotos, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis), gut problems (bloating, gas, constipation,IBS, leaky gut, candida, gastritis), skin issues (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne) and even mental emotional conditions like anxiety, ADD and ADHD it will absolutely benefit you to get tested.

Once you know your sensitivities, your healing journey can begin by cutting foods high on the scale for 90 days noticing and creating a rotational diet with the other mild, to moderate items.

Once you’ve taken measures to heal and seal your gut wall and repopulate with good bacteria, you can slowly introduce one of these foods in at a time back into your diet taking careful measure to see you notice any adverse effects (it’s important to introduce only one food, one week at a time in order to have a good test).

Once upon a time, these top 3 foods were important and necessary sources of nutrition for our Dairy can cause inflammationculture’s ability to survive. However, with modern day practices such as genetic modification, toxic chemicals and modern farming practices, the integrity of our food supply has suffered drastically, it’s creating negative effects on the lives of many.

At the end of the day, everyone is different and these foods may not affect you at all. Yet if you are suffering with any ailments, even something as minor as frequent headaches, eliminating the top three allergens or getting a food sensitivity test can be a great first step in your body’s healing process.
